Dear Friends,
As we enjoy the fall season and the closing months of 2024, I am filled with gratitude and anticipation. This time of year reminds us of the importance of giving thanks and supporting those around us, and I'm so excited to share some updates and insights from our recent activities and partnerships around Jacksonville.
Our recent Suicide Symposium in September was an overwhelming success that gathered over 130 mental health professionals to discuss essential topics, such as self-care for providers, and promote open conversations to diminish the stigma surrounding suicide. A special thank you to our guest speaker, Kevin Briggs, and all our panelists, who delivered powerful messages of hope and healing.
To continue this work in our community, don't forget about our Talkable Communities partnership. This program continues to offer free mental health trainings regularly, and I encourage everyone to sign up for an upcoming online session!
I'm also proud to announce our new partnership with the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation. This collaboration is a commitment to providing vital mental health support to families affected by childhood cancer. By combining our efforts, we aim to nurture the emotional well-being of these children and their caregivers during critical times.
Lastly, I want to recognize our Chief Administrative Officer, Karon Ivey, who was recently honored during the Florida Behavioral Health Association's annual Awards of Excellence Ceremony! Thank you, Karon, for your outstanding contribution and dedication.
As always, I am grateful for our community's support and the opportunity to work towards creating a healthier and happier Jacksonville. Happy November!
Respectfully,
Theresa Thweatt Rulien, Ph.D. President & CEO
